  • We will pick you up or meet you at the district office (Amphur) in Bangkok to have the marriage registered. We also prepare the interpreter and witness for district office. After the marriage registration is complete we send you back with a small gift from us.

Important information

If you have plans to use the marriage certificate as a legal document in other countries, it is best to have it translated into English or your own language and notarized at the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs or at the Embassy.

The Canadian Embassy is not authorized to provide or recommend translation services, but there are various translation services outside. Canadian nationals who are married to Thai nationals do not automatically acquire Thai citizenship or Thai residency.

Foreigners married to Thais still need to apply for a visa at Immigration and renew the visa every year. For more information, visit the Marriage Visa section of our website here.
